The 7th annual Nickel City Line Dance Classic was a huge success!  Although numbers were down a little from last year due to Southern Ontario competition, attendees had a wonderful time, with lots of positive comments about the event.  Lots of new participants this year, and of course our regular dancers who return every year!  Without you, this would not have been a success.  From the bottom of our hearts, a huge THANK YOU! to all who attended.  Zandra McCallum and Bobby Chong were guest instructors this year, who taught some very interesting dances.  Our local instructors - Marthe Thibeault and Carol Larocque - were able to keep the dancers interested, as well.  Kudos to Colette Proulx who played a wonderful selection of open dances during the day, and compiling a great playlist for the evening dance.  Your requests were what made the playlist interesting enough to keep dancers on the floor all evening!  Pierrette "Pete" Vincent-Schroeder did not teach this year due to another commitment, and had to leave after lunch.  She will be back instructing next year!

Our charity recipient this year was Vale Hospice, who accepted a cheque in the amount of $433.00 (see photo below).  Pete and Carol presented the cheque to the organization at Vale Hospice on Monday, October 3, 2016.

Have a look at the dancing and socializing during the day and evening.  Lots of fun was had by all.  Kevo's Catering served a light but hearty lunch, with lots of leftovers to munch on during the evening!

2015 NCLDC -  LUNGS FOR TINA

PROCEEDS TO “LUNGS FOR TINA”

The Nickel City Line Dance Classic Event Directors are pleased to announce that we have been able to donate $1,250.00 from the dance proceeds (including the afghan raffle and penny table sale items), along with $130.00 net profit from the sale of T-shirts/golf shirts.  A cheque for the $130 from the shirt sales will be sent separately.  Below is a picture of the recipient – Tina Proulx – and her husband, Joel Proulx.  This donation will help them with living expenses in Toronto, while Tina awaits a double-lung transplant.

Your participation and generosity are greatly appreciated!!  It was you who made this donation possible, to assist the family of one of our line dance community members.  Congratulations to you for a fantastic turnout, and our most heartfelt thanks for your continued support!  Hope to see you all again next year.  Mark the date in your calendar – Saturday, September 24, 2016.  See you soon on the dance floor!
