Our dear dancing friend, Flo Atkins, is nearing the end of her journey with us here on earth, but her memory will linger with us all, for the rest of our lives.

Shelley Moreau and I had the heartfelt opportunity to visit with Flo on September 30, 2020.  The Intermediate/Advanced group of line dancers who have been dancing together for 20 years or more made donations, and gifts were purchased and given to Flo on September 30th, so she could enjoy them while she is still among us.

Flo is such a fun-loving person, who always has a smile on her face, and looks on the bright side of everything, even though she is very matter-of-fact and accepting about her condition.  She danced with us for many years and travelled to events with some of us, and always made the room light up with laughter when we were together.  She left line dancing to take up running, which she would be able to do together with her husband, Ken.  They lived not too far away from me, and I would often see them walking/running past my house, enjoying their "together" activity.  Then all of a sudden I hadn't seen them in quite a while.  I then discovered that they had to move so it would be easier for Flo to gain access to her home, as her previous building did not have an elevator.  She and Ken have a beautiful apartment at the south end of the city, with a wonderful view of the lake.  She is enjoying the time she is spending in this apartment, but is limited as to how much she can get "out and about".

We spoke about our adventures together - Vegas workshops, the workshop in Timmins where she took a tumble (kept her cowboy hat on, but her frilly undies were showing!), and other workshops that we attended together.  Had good laughs over this one.  Caught up on how many grandchildren she currently has, and one on the way in January, 2021.  We encouraged her to think positive and hope that she can linger long enough to see the new wee one!

As with all of us at some point in time, our journeys will eventually take us heaven-bound.  Flo - wait for us, and we will get together to dance once again, while you still enjoy the running/walking with Ken.  By then, we will have to teach you some new dances!!!

Love and Hugs to you and your family - you will be sorely missed - but not yet!!!  Hang in there, girl!

Below are photos of the blanket, sayings, and Garry Thibeault's poem he wrote for all of us linedancers.  Then below that are pictures of each page of the album of memories given to her.  thank you to everyone who sent pictures for her Memory album.  As well, here is what she responded to me, when I thanked her for allowing us to have a visit with her, while she is not well.

Hi Carol and girls,
